Just south of the border begins the stretch of coastline known as the Gold Coast, which includes two quaint, coastal cities, Ensenada and Rosarito Beach.
Ensenada has a way of capturing our hearts and our minds. It’s not just a place to visit; it’s a place to experience. Some of our greatest songwriters, including Jim Morrison, Lyle Lovett, and Neil Diamond were so inspired by Ensenada that they dedicated songs to this charming port city.
For starters, there’s the soothing sunshine, the bright and blissful light that beckons you and infuses you with its radiant glow. While Ensenada’s perfect climate and dramatic sunsets are something to savor, there are also plenty of events and activities year-around that are bound to keep you fascinated.
Rosarito Beach is just north of Ensenada or a half-hour’s drive south of San Diego. Rosarito has been a playground for the Hollywood elite, including Mickey Rooney, Ava Gardner, Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn, Rita Hayworth, and Orson Welles.
Rosarito is all about shopping. You'll find duty-free gifts, handcrafted furniture, jewelry, and exceptional artworks. There is a variety of dining options from gourmet and international fare to Baja's famous taco stands. Baja-style lobster is available at the world-famous lobster village of Puerto Nuevo.
